We’re thrilled to unveil PointShot, the world’s first marketplace connecting athletes and teams with specialized coaches across diverse disciplines.
Our Journey#
You may know our team from Stream Cortex, a video platform that brought game breakdown and clips to every athlete — not just teams with big budgets. Before that, we were the team behind VBK Viewer, the first video tool allowing the average organization (think youth programs and high schools) to break down game footage. The common mission through all these stages has been to make athlete development and sports technology accessible to everyone.
PointShot continues this mission by giving “specialists” (think video or on-ice coaches, positional experts, nutritionists, strength coaches, mentors, and more) all the tools they need to own their own business, and by connecting them with teams and athletes from all over the world. Where so many platforms simply provide “exposure,” AI highlight reels, or peer mentorship, we want to make an end-to-end experience that’s valuable to everyone. That means helping athletes access new perspectives and expertise; helping teams supplement their staff; helping specialists grow their businesses and service offerings; and helping scouts find the information they really want to know.
What is PointShot?#
PointShot empowers specialists—video coaches, positional experts, nutritionists, strength coaches, mentors, and more—to grow their businesses while connecting with athletes and teams worldwide. Unlike platforms focused solely on exposure or AI highlight reels, PointShot offers a comprehensive development experience for athletes and complete toolkit for teams and coaches.
Our Alpha Test and First Release#
This “Alpha” stage represents what we’ve been calling our “version 2” platform — continuing many of Stream Cortex’s most valuable features under a new brand, modern user experience, and with key enhancements that turn this into an all-encompassing sports platform.
Release 0.1 brings our core Athlete Profile functionality to Ice Hockey. We wanted to give our original Stream Cortex athletes the ability to transition over, build out their new profiles, and be the first to try out new functionality as it launches. Right now, athletes can:
- Register and set up their profile
- Invite parents to fully access their accounts (mandatory for athletes under 18 years old)
- Add important information to their public profile including:
- Bio
- General details (height, weight, handedness, etc.)
- Academic details
- Goals, aspirations, and next steps
- Team resume
- Awards & Achievements
- Set a profile photo
- Browse and be seen in our athlete search
What’s Next#
Much more functionality is on the way for athletes, like dashboards, video libraries, connected team profiles/rosters, and more. Additionally, we’re making progress on our specialist profiles and marketplace, and we hope to share those soon.
While we’re beginning our adventure in Ice Hockey, we plan to open PointShot to all sports gradually. But we don’t want to create just a general, one-size-fits-all platform. The development and recruiting path in every sport is different. So once we’ve nailed it in hockey, we’ll start tackling more sports with a tailored experience that fits your specific needs.
